2020

2017
AbstractThe way Spain adapted the legislation to the Accounting Directives as well as a brief analysis of the Spanish standard setting process is followed by a description of the influence of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is the Spanish legislation and the different stakeholders’ position on IFRS. We show and explain why the local General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are clearly inspired by IFRS principles, even for Small- and Medium-Size entities, while at the same time there is no direct application of IFRS and no mention of IFRS as a complementary source of interpretation. We explain the influence of different stakeholders in the standard setting process and…

Kulttuurienvälisen tietoisuuden ja kieliasenteiden kehittyminen CLIL-opetuksessa
2018
CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) has been claimed to create a positive attitude towards languages and language learning in general and to raise intercultural awareness. The 24 participants, who received English-medium CLIL during their comprehensive school in the 1990s, were interviewed in-depth and the data were analysed qualitatively. Most participants felt that CLIL had had a very positive effect on their attitudes towards English. Students' attitude towards the use of educational video games to develop competencies
2018
The use of educational video games (EVGs) is gaining momentum as a means to motivate and to engage students in their learning process. Nevertheless, previous research is taking for granted that students have a positive attitude towards EVGs and did not ensure a proper understanding of students' characteristics that might influence their attitude towards them. Therefore, this study's main goal is to explore four students' characteristics (perceived relevance, perceived confidence, media affinity, and perceived self-efficacy) that influence students' attitude towards the use of EVGs to develop competencies. Using the fsQCA method to analyze data gathered on a sample of 128 undergraduate stude…

EXPLORING 35-44 YEAR OLD MEN’S HEALTH BEHAVIOUR: A QUALITATIVE PERSPECTIVE
2017
Upon reaching 35-44 year of age, men experience their first health problems, often because of an unhealthy way of life e.g., smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy nutrition habits, etc. In comparison with other age groups, these men rarely look for medical help, thus, opening themselves up to a number of potentially negative consequences e.g. health risks in future. This study explores the health behaviour of 35-44 year old men by conducting semi-structured in-depth interviews with 48 participants. The data are further analysed using inductive thematic analysis. Results indicate the presence of three main types of men’s behaviour: 1) participants with positive attitude towards one’s healt…
